My Sparkly People!
I am so so sorry that I have been away from all the sparkle for so long! I see Queen Sasha has been taking care of you all and you have now seen all the amazing things that are on the horizon for all of us here at Sasha Souza Events. Nothing short of exciting, believe me! I left this world for a bit to get my feet wet in this business outside of the safety net of Mommy Dearest. It was quite the experience and made me realize how important a wedding planner really is.
The brides I was working with all are on a specific budget and were given an opportunity to have the perfect wedding, that includes EVERYTHING sans the safety net of a planner (coordination up until the day yes, but no day of involvement). Maybe it was because I have learned the business from the best or maybe it is just my natural instinct, but not having the one person who knows all the details there on the day of the wedding just doesn’t feel right. I felt the need to be there for my brides, because that’s what I was taught. There were days that I would feel guilty for staying in bed an extra hour with my non-groom rather than being there with the event managers and the staff, but in the end I just couldn’t be there for every single wedding due to the high volume of events.
In the words of Joni Mitchell’s Big Yellow Taxi, “you don’t know what you’ve got till its gone”. I didn’t realize how good I have had it growing up as Sasha Souza’s daughter, a child of wedding royalty seeing the amount of hard work and dedication that goes into each event. It is not something that should be spared so one can invite more guests. Quality over quantity is key when it comes to designing and planning a wedding.
The days of planning a DIY wedding via Pinterest, brides and soon to be brides are finding all sorts of crafty ways to cut spending. There is no denying that having a day-of coordinator who is well versed in the business of weddings or a trusty friend who is wedding savvy (other than the maid of honor!) that it could be the smartest and “craftiest” way to have the best day ever. Even the craftiest brides need help on their wedding day. You want to be able to relax and enjoy the most momentis occasion, so let someone else put all that you have created together!
You do not want this to be you…just sayin’
Anywho, that is my two cents and what I have learned in the past few months. I learned a lot more and have a lot more ideas coming up, so stay tuned!
